Guest guest
Dear Chrissy, Well, I still think it's amazing that you and me have so many places and people in common and like you said, who knows? We have probably seen each other at least in passing. Didn't you say that you had worked in that windowless short-term stay unit? I have been a patient there before a while back. Can't remember the date though. What floor do you work on now? That's really cool that you knew Dr. J.C. and that we both have as our surgeon. I think he's such a nice, kind and talented surgeon. Unlike a lot of surgeons I can think of, he has an amazing lack of the big ego. He's secure enough that he doesn't have to be arrogant or aloof. He has always treated me with the upmost courtesy and compassion. After he did my Puestow surgery back in 1997, he came by my room to check on me and I thanked him for what he had done to help me, and he said, " Well Henry you did the hard part. " That amazed and impressed me so much. Do you feel the same way about him? It's too bad that you and my dad missed each other. Now that would have really been a coincidence! Do you know Underwood or Van Dorsten? There is a portrait of my dad hanging in the confernce room of the OBGYN offices in the Clinical Sciences building if your ever over there, but I dought that you'd have the time to go way over there. I'm sorry that you've been feeling so bad since we last posted. I hope that you're soon back to feeling better and can enjoy going back to work. It's wonderful that you have a career which helps people and that you enjoy so much. That's a blessing. I was my happiest when I worked at The News & Courier (Now Post & Courier). Thank's for what you said about the surgeries not working, and my disapointment, but like I said, I do generaly try very hard to keep a positive attitude in the face of adversity. I get to feeling blue sometimes, or have anxiety which is why I take Paxil, but so many people have it much worse than I can ever imagine. It helps keep things in perspective. When my little nephew had heart surgery at MUSC a few years back, visiting him at the MUSC Children's Hospital was a good reminder to keep my chin up, 'cause I was blessed with a healthy childhood and adolesence. Chrissy, did you know that MUSC used to have a live, in person " Pancreatitis Partners " support group. More about that later... Yes, the Lowcountry is a much more crowded and policed place for your pretty, gymnastics champ daughter than it was when we were growing up here. I still have some pictures that I took of Mt. Pleasant somewhere back when it was still small and uncrowded. Of course the area where you live is still more like the Mt. Pleasant of the 60s & 70s. Isn't it wonderful that they found that missing toddler after he spent a night alone in the woods in below freezing weather?! Incredible, I was so fearful that he was out there scared and freezing to death the other day/night. It's nice to hear some good news for a change! :-) I hope that your rash clears up soon and the pain goes away. You've had enough of that for sure. Oh! after I get my second wind Imust write to Heidi, the state rep who so kindly welcomed me back. Thank's again for being so friendly and nice welcoming me back here. It's still the same warm, caring and supportive group that I remember. Thank's to everybody and a special thanks to Karyn for founding this wonderful group! Hope to hear back from you soon.
