Guest guest
Dear Kriss, I hadn't even had a chance to welcome you to the group before everyone was responding back and forth to you with advise about the hotels in Indy and comments about Dr. Lehman. Since the members who responded had personal experience with both, I was reassured that you were already in good hands. I could only have told you that I stayed at the University Place Convention Center during August for the PAI symposim last year. They were kind enough to give me a hospital rate ($98) and I though it's convenient over-road walkways were ideal, easy to access and making travel back and forth in any weather never a problem. Since we have so many of our members from that neck of the wods going to Dr. Lehman, I knew you'd hear what you needed to about him. After reading your story about your treatment at Vanderbuilt, I can understand why you would chose to do tell us your story about your treatment with Dr. Lind. Although we try to discourage " doctor-bashing " unneccessarily on this website, IMHO it is necessary for us to bring poor medical treatment and care like this to the surface when it occurs. Yes, it is your personal opinion, but you are a patient and a human being, and it's important for us to know about any medical practioner or facility that doesn't earn our recommendation. When I first read your comments about this doctor's comment in an earlier post, I was appauled, and after hearing about it again, in reference to why the doctor made this comment, I'm even more disgusted that there are doctor's like him out there. Pancreatitis from ERCP's is the 7th cause of the disease, and any doctor that doesn't inform his patient of this beforehand deserves nothing but scorn. I'm glad that you walked away from this without being totally discouaged and that you've become your own advocate as a result. Sometime that's what we have to do. So many doctor's just don't have the experience or knowledge to work with this disease with any degree of compassion and understanding. I am encouraged to know that you are now seeing someone who does, and that you will have better care in the future. Once again, let me say welcome, it's good to have you here. Guest guest
Heidi, Thank you for the welcome and the comments to my earlier posts. Thank you also for understanding why I chose to say what I did. I do not believe in doctor-bashing either, but I felt in my heart that this was an important part of my life that I had to share. I can say that one good thing did come out of my bad experience at Vandi., and that is that I started to stand up for myself at doctor offices and take more charge in my medical care. If I feel, for any reason, that a doctor is not believing me or questioning my pain then I know it is time to move on. I am still searching for that wonderful doctor/patient relationship that I hear about on this board. I only hope that I can find that someday too. Thank you Again, Kris - In pancreatitis , " hhessgriffeth " <hhessgriffeth@h...> wrote: > Dear Kriss, > > I hadn't even had a chance to welcome you to the group before > everyone was responding back and forth to you with advise > about the hotels in Indy and comments about Dr. Lehman. > Since the members who responded had personal experience > with both, I was reassured that you were already in good hands. > > I could only have told you that I stayed at the University Place > Convention Center during August for the PAI symposim last year. > They were kind enough to give me a hospital rate ($98) and I > though it's convenient over-road walkways were ideal, easy to > access and making travel back and forth in any weather never a > problem.
