Guest guest
Hi. I posted last week about my daughter, 2 1/2yrs old with Eosinophilic colitis. I really want to start this diet... I have read and reread BTVC, and all the suppport stuff on eliane's site. My questions are this: I am nervous about the intro diet.. not becuase my daughter will have a problem.. her diet is so limited now, that when we are eating anything past the intro, she is going to think she is the luckiest girl alive! BUT she is VERY allergic to eggs, and has very bad reactions to milk and milk products, as well as goat products, and can't eat more than one serving of turkey without reaction... and no chicken at all... so what is left on the intro diet? Beef, and some grape jello... WE can do two days of this....done 36hour clear liquid only for scopes, but 5 days or more.. that is gettting a bit dicey. And then I get confused about adding foods.. I have kept a log before, but at that time people were telling me to wait 2 weeks for each food.. and the we would be basically on the intro diet of nothing for , uh, up to three weeks.. Not working, not safe IMO. She is actually fairly mild in the whole scheme of things, due to the fact that I recognized food to be the issue early on, and she has eaten a very restricted diet, ( as have I because I am breastfeeding) so muhc so that this deit, when we get past the intro, will seem liberal to us.. wow, we can eat fruit! Anyway, my other question is that at present she can't do eggs or milk, and a lot of the the recipes need yogurt and eggs, and I know there are the substitues that are listed differnt places, but they are for baked goods, and many recipes are for non- baked things. Anyway, I would love to be in touch with someone out there doing this diet w/o eggs and dairy, so maybe I can get some ideas. Oh yeah, a random quesion.. applegate farms organic hotdogs... have lactic acid starter.. not from milk, and sodium lactate from beets.. legal or illegal? and also.. anyone used this diet to reduce inflammation outside the G-I tract, say in the kidneys? Just wondering.. I want my husband to do this with us, he has a kidney condition, so I was hopeing to get a little leverage. Thanks so much!
