Guest guest
My daughter graduated Feb. 26th. The week prior to her graduation I noticed what seemed to be a growth between the band opening under the velcro. I also thought I should take the band off. When I questioned the therapist, she told us that it is a fluid build up and that it would go away in the following 2-6 weeks. It has now been a week and it has dissapated some. It is not completely smooth yet but it is not so noticable now. She compared it to wearing socks that were tight on your legs. Hope that helps. Just make sure to ask your therapist when you go back in. Yesterday when giving him his bath I noticed something that really has me worried. In the areas right above his ears, he has bulging, it feels hard like bone and not fluid. There is a little space above the ears on the helmet, but not much. Could growth be occuring here because there is some open space and will this be permanent. I hate to think wearing the helmet is making his head worse because he did not have this bulging before, and it is worse on the side where he does not have the flattening. He has plagio with pretty bad ear assymetry. I have seen a little improvement on the flat side, and I think he's had a minor growth spurt since wearing the helmet. We do see the ortho on Tuesday, I'll just be a nervous wreck till then and wonder if I should still have him wear it?? > > Kate >
Guest guest
It sounds like fluid buildup (which doesn't really feel like fluid) in his lymphnodes (sp?) behind his ears. My son had the same thing between his velcro closure and it's completly normal. Sort of like wearing panythose or socks that are too tight, they leave a crease/indentation in your skin. It goes away anywhere within 2 months after treatment (probably depending on how long he wears is). My son's took a while, but it's completly gone now. Hope they confirm that for you on Tuesday!
