Guest guest
That's an experienced ortho for ya. The hanger place said my son would get to the point he could wear it just at night. What a jokeSent via BlackBerry from T-MobileFrom: "ashesval" Date: Thu, 05 Mar 2009 16:16:22 -0000<Plagiocephaly >Subject: Helmet only at night? On vacation, I met a couple from eastern Canada who said they had a grandson who had a helmet too and he was at the point where he only needed to wear it at night. Huh? As far as I know, it is pretty much always 23 hrs a day... Has anyone experienced or heard of being down to only having to wear it at night? Not sure what kind of band it was but they were from Ottawa or Quebec, so i am assuming the grandkid lived there too.
Guest guest
Sometimes when a child is close to graduating or had graduated from the band the ortho will recommend sleep time wear only. This is assuming that the band still fits. Orthos sometimes have you wean the baby off the band when the graduate. I know that my son wore his band a few extra nights because he couldn't sleep without it. So, that may have been the case for the baby that you heard about. It would be unusual for the night time use to be recommend at the beginning of treatment. Guest guest
Thanks for all the responses. That is so cute that your son couldn't sleep without the helmet at first. hehee. I do believe this couple said he was at the end of his treatment so that makes sense. > > Sometimes when a child is close to graduating or had graduated from the band > the ortho will recommend sleep time wear only.
