Pancreatitis and pets

Hi all:

This sounds like a funny subject line but I just happened to think

of it a while ago.

During the holidays, even if we don't eat the fat and rich foods

because of our pancreas our families do. I include our pets in

those family members. My husky Scarlet like most dogs likes people

food just as much and probably more than dog food. It is easy to

overfeed the animals at the holidays with rich things. Most of us

know not to give our dogs chocolate but some folks don't know that

too much fatty food in general can cause the dogs to have

pancreatitis!

I know two different folks who lost their beloved pets at the

holiday because of pancreatitis. The ones that don't die are

horribly sick and in the hospital for several days!

I use to be the worst to feed my dog all that stuff at the holidays,

the stuffing, the mashed potatoes and gravy but now like me she just

gets a taste! Seems they can get pancreatitis quicker than we can!

My dog is just as important as anybody in my family and I am sure

all of your pets are too. Remember they keep us going sometimes

when we think we can't go on. Help be good to the pancreas of your

pet!

Merry Christmas

Kaye
