Guest guest
Hi all. Rhonda from Indiana here. I have not been able to get into e-groups for almost a week now. I finally got back in today. Last week I got my 2nd denial from Cigna. I kept trying to get in to post to blow off steam and could not, so I ended up posting a couple of private e-mails. Thank you Zoey and T. for calming me down. I still am not any further ahead at this time. I called Cigna as suggested. They would not let me talk to anybody at first. I finally called our company Benefits Information Center and someone there got me connected with a Tammy from Cigna. All I could get her to tell me was that they needed more clinical information from my PCP. When I called the woman who handles insurance matters at my PCP's office, she said she didn't know what else my doctor could tell them. She says he has told them everything he can. She said they want specific information about diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. and right now all of those things are okay with me. I'm pretty down right now. I don't think my doctor is going to give them what they want because they are so unclear on what they want. It seems like they want it said in a certain way and it is up to him to figure out what that certain was is. I am afraid he will get tired of their game and just tell me he has done all he can. I never thought I would have this much trouble getting approved. One of my friends and co-workers had the MGB back the last part of May. She was a self-pay because she was denied initially. She appealed it after the surgery and Cigna is paying at out of network rates for her. Her BMI was 38 with very few co-morbities. My BMI is 48 with co-morbities. Her denial letter didn't mention the same criteria as mine did. I am really confused on what they want. The other thing is when I call they don't want to answer any of my questions. They keep saying to have my doctor call if he has any questions. I'm the one paying for the insurance, why can't I get the answers? Well anyway, that is where I am at with insurance currently. I am still working on my packet for Dr. R., getting pretty close to having it complete now, so if and when Cigna gets their head out, I will be ready. Better go. Thanks for listening to me vent some more. Rhonda
