Leila,

We're in northern Illinois.

My son was rated with moderate to severe Brachycephaly with R to L assymetry. I

apologize. I'm stuck at work I do not have his measurements with me, however I

can tell you he has an increased head width to length ratio, occipital flatening

(right side), facial assymetry, and ear/eye shift on the right side.

We're going to move forward with getting him in a band in a few weeks as

everything progresses, but I just wish we had known to move forward with this

sooner.

We know at this stage of the game, complete adjustment is no longer an option

(or as complete as one can get if treatment is done earlier). We're just hoping

to see moderate improvement at this point.

I am mostly curious with other " year+ " parents and if they felt the bands met

their expectations? I am trying not to set myself up to be frustrated by lack of

improvement. If that makes sense ....

Thanks,

Hi -

My son wore two DOCBands beginning at 17 months old and we saw fantastic

results. If you're going to band " late, " I personally recommend the DOCBand in

particular, because they treat babies until age 2 with significant results (each

baby is different of course, but as long as they have steady growth, you will

see changes). My son's before and after pictures are in the Older Plagio Kids

folder under Jake W. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

,

Than you for the reply. I know every child is different, but it is comforting to

know others have started the DOC band process after 12 months with possitive

results.

I understand treatment can be slower with older babies. How long did your son

wear each of his bands?

He wore both bands for the full 16 weeks allowed (they lose their

strength/integrity at that point), so almost 8 months in total. He went from the

first right into the second with no break in between, and graduated 2 weeks

after his 2nd birthday.
