Guest guest
>> However, my daughter cannot tolerate carrots, celery, eggs. She did really badly on the Intro until we removed all these. Could I replace carrots with zucchini and just make the broth with chicken and zucchini? << , Benn there. Done that. I absolutely HATED carrots when I started SCD. I tried forcing myself to eat them, and they came through completely undigested. To be honest, the chicken soup, while a great starting place, isn't essential to the intro diet, in my opinion. If your daughter likes grilled chicken, serve that. Steamed zucchini with butter is good. The objective of the carrots is a tolerated carbohydrate source for the early days of the diet. If she can't handle carrots, substitute another legal vegetable with decent carbs which she likes and tolerates. (BTW, I do now tolerate carrots, and they even taste OK to me, but I have a real hard time eating them after 50+ years of avoidance!) -- Marilyn (New Orleans, Louisiana, USA) Undiagnosed IBS 25 Years, SCD Five Years Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
