Guest guest
I just painted in the spots that peeled, a couple of coats, then reapplied mod podge over the whole thing to even it all out and make it look fresh. It wouldn't be perfect, but unless you looked closely, you couldn't tell. I never used primer, just a few coats of color and mod podge. And I didn't use alcohol to remove any paint until I was ready to start all over with a new design and had already peeled all the paint off. At that point, I would just clean all the plastic with alcohol and scrub at any edges where the paint overlapped a tiny bit into the foam. The base color was great, but of course we were trying to be perfect and where the color was raised and not even I tried redoing it by removing it with alcohol then redoing the primer then base coat. Needless to say, it looked horrible. So we wiped that part clean again and put the primer on more evenly. Any suggestions before we put the base on again? > > If your paint peels how do you go about fixing it up thanks! >
Guest guest
Hi, I did the same thing as you , the Modge Podge is a great sealer since it is non-toxic and the interior/exterior finish seems to last longer than any other (the satin finish peeled right off the first day). PLEASE DO NOT USE VARNISH!! It is far too caustic to be on a baby's head 23/7 not to mention the fumes can make baby sick. Just make sure to apply the Modge Poge heavily on the edges to prevent it from peeling faster, but not too clumpy otherwise. My Zayden's has lasted a couple of weeks already now. If you can find interior/exterior paint you have an even better chance of it lasting. I used the Apple Barrel brand and the Modge Podge both in interior/exterior - this type of Modge Podge is thicker and tackier so take your time because it start drying instantly as you apply it; I recommend using a 1 in. - 1 1/2 in. synthetic brush to make it even. If you mess up it is easier to peel it all off and start over - I've done it twice now! Plus, it makes you better at it each time. Good luck to you! Guest guest
Thanks! Great advice. Do you think for touch ups I can put mod podge over the varnish which I already used and am upset about, I had read somewhere to use it and I don't know what I was thinking. I will just use modge podge from now on T > > > > > > So my son just got his DOC band, he's 4 months, so you will see me on here a bunch. We are doing his band in a red sox helmet design.
