Guest guest
I would like to go just read on the net, but could not figure out how to do it.I went to yahoo groups and could not find my pancreatisis group. I am feeling so good right now, I would like to be taken off for now. Thank you Myrna -- Re: Scans and Vicky's question Yet on the other hand...I read on a post..not sure if it was this site or the cancer site I'm also linked to...(think it was the cancer one) that a study was done I think at Hopkins in regards to radiation levels emitted by a CT Scan. The doctor who wrote about the study results and helped participate in the study said that the radiation level was quite high, and minimum CT scans should be performed on a person if possible. Also it mentioned that if a child is having a CT scan, then the radiologists should make sure the scanner is set to it's lowest possible setting. Another suggestion by the medical staff was to place an apron over the patient's body parts that are not being scanned (especially the reproductive organs) to protect them. They did give the equivalent ratios of radiation compared to being exposed to other forms or radiation, and I am sorry that I am unable to give those..but I can't remember. I do know that they compared one CT scan with a certain amount of plane trips that would expose a person to radiation found in the air up there. I have to have 4 CT Scans a year just for my tumours, not including any I get when my pancreatitis flares up, or if my oncologists decide to just give me one, and none of the doctor's I've seen have ever asked me how many I have had..to see if the one they want me to have is absolutely necessary.
