What he didn't seem to realize was that in order to get that control, I've been testing 8 times a day and correcting by injecting insulin up to 7-10 times a day, in order to keep my levels in the normal range. " After applauding your excellent A1C, I had to laugh at the doctor's failure to contribute the control to the meticulous hour by hour insulin / carbohydrate / glucose balancing act required to achieve such a heroic feat. Of course, you have to be there to believe it. I remember receiving the email you sent me [re: Pancreatitis induced diabetes] when you exclaimed " I had no idea, but I now understand, what a challenge! " . It is hard to believe that you can spend an entire day just achieving glycemic control! It's unfortunate that that is too late to understand and appreciate the full value of the islet cell. It's not too early, though, for me to understand and appreciate the full value of my kidneys and eyes. Congratulations and thank you for being such an aggressive advocate for early recognition and intervention of blood sugar problems.
