Guest guest
Dear Robin, Just wanted to tell you that I am the same way about my medications that you are, and when my GI told me that he was sending me to someone else for my pain medications, I was terrified of the same things that you've been worrying about. It's scary to think of trying to go without meds. I've had to go through withdrawal, too, and never want to have to go through that again without help like that time. I just wanted to let you know that I hoping that your appointment tomorrow works out as well for you as mine did. Be honest and straightforward about your pain, and make sure you tell the doctor what doesn't work, as well. My first appointment worked out great, except the amount of morphine (15 mgs.) that he put me on for BT wasn't working. I gave it a week's trial, as he'd asked, and then called and told the nurse. I was amazed, within 15 minutes the doctor himself called me back, discussed some other meds with me, and then he said for me to try doubling up on the morphine to see if that worked. After asking me whether the 75 mgs. duragesic was working okay, he then said just to call early when the break through meds were getting low, and they'd refill it before my next appointment at the end of the month. Couldn't ask for anything better.....but there's always that thought in the back of my mind, " what if the NEXT time I go in they take it away from me? " LOL, some habits are just hard to break! Good luck, I'll say a prayer for you that it works out well and you've found yourself another good doctor. Let us know! With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H.
