Breaking Down the Barriers: A National Needs Assessment on

Farmworker Health Outreach

Join us for a close look at recent findings from

farmworker outreach programs nationwide! In 2008-2009, Health Outreach Partners

conducted its fourth annual National Needs Assessment. It sought to gather

information on new and emerging farmworker populations, outreach program trends

and challenges, farmworker health needs and barriers to care, outreach funding,

and cultural competency needs. The needs assessment employed five methods of

data collection: online surveys with outreach managers, telephone surveys with

health center administrators, focus groups with Migrant and Seasonal Head Start

parents, community forums with outreach staff, as well as existing data in the

migrant health field.
