My family of four went 100% SCD July 1 in support of my extreme ADHD 9 year old

son

who has malabsorption problems. Both sons (the other is 12) and my husband are

doing

okay---some weakness, some stomach upset, some irritability. I am suffering

greatly. I

am having horrendous cramping from my hips to just above my knees. It had

bothered

me Saturday night a little, but last night I awoke around 2 a.m. and have not

been back to

sleep since (it is 11 on Monday night). I cannot lay down without extreme pain

and sitting

isn't great. Walking is good after about 20 minutes, but otherwise I'm in an

extreme

amount of pain.

I've been taking epsom salt baths. I've been using a heating pad. I'm taking

1000 mg/

magnesium/day, plus Freeda vitaminis plus Vit C (1000 mg.) AND activated

charcoal.

Yes, all legal supplements and yes taking apart from the charcoal. I'm drinking

tons of

water. I'm still in agony. I spoke to my son's doctor, and she wasn't sure

what to do

either.

I understand the value of this diet, particularly for my son. My son and I have

been mostly

SCD for a couple of months, but waited to go 100% until I could learn about it,

convert the

familiy off of 18 years of vegetarianism (still learning how to cook), get the

family through

a trip to Paris and my son through a week of drama camp. I knew that when we

did it, we

wanted to do it right and that I needed total control. We've seen remarkable

improvements in my son (who is also taking enzymes, probiotics, and cod liver

oil----as

per doctor.)

As I was sobbing on the phone with the doctor today, she struggled with the

dilemma of if

this is die-off, I need this diet for reasons we didn't know, but also she

cannot tolerate me

being in this much pain. But she is new to this diet, too. (A doctor at the

lab who did my

son's CSA suggested the book to her. She has read it, as have I, but never had

a patient

on the diet before.)

But I'm in so much pain I'm beginning to question my sanity. Is there anything

we are

overlooking that we could do? I really cannot be in pain like this and

function. Please

help, if you have anything to offer.

Thanks,

Angie
