Guest guest
Hi Robin, I certainly hope the Oxycontin is working well with you and you are out of pain by now. I do know the Town of Berlin, very well, but I had never heard the Runaway Bride, with and the Other movie you mention were film there. I bet that was an exciting time, when they were making movies there. I know when we get to Berlin, we are there and I get more exciting than my girls would get. In the mids 1960's, my Mother wanted to buy land in Ocean City. It was the area from 80th -90 Street from the Ocean Highway to the Beach was for sale by a guy named Hobie. That's where they went surfing at that time. It was all overgrown and you cold early see the ocean for all the dunes along the road. Well the selling price was $100,000. for the 10 block area and that would have meant that my mother would have had to take a second mortgage on her house and my Dad at the time felt it was too risky to do, so he talked her out of doing it. That was all lot of money back in the 60's. She has kicked herself many times over for not going ahead and doing it. If she had done it, I'm sure I would have at least had a condo or a house over there for the summertime. I remember back in the mid 80's the sold a piece of property on the corner of 34th Street and oceanfront for over 3 million dollars and that where the put up a big motel. The land was part of Oceanside Motel, which is on 33 rd Street. I forget the names of the place, but you can see the tall building when you make the turn at 32nd. street to go back to the Coastal Highway. I hope you health hold up , so you can get your house built there next year. That really sounds exciting. I do hope you are feeling better.
