New to the site and questions about open surgery

I have had my first visit with the hospital to initially find out if

I am eligible. I visit with the surgeon and the pshychiatric

evaluation on April 6th. I was told that I am going to have a

open/lap procedure. Part of the procedure will be lap but they will

have to open me up partially. She said that it will be a smaller

incision and a smaller scar. Have any of you had open procedure and

how long did it take you to recover?
