My BMI was 65 and I was able to have LAP. If you have a fatty liver, thick

abdomnial wall, or hernias then you will have to have open regardless of your

BMI. Hope this helps.

At my hospital they said that a woman over a 60 BMI has to be open. I think it

is different from surgeon to surgeon.

My BMI when I had surgery was 61 and I had Lap. You're right, it depends

on the surgeon and their comfortability and level of skill.
