Has anyone considered having surgery out of the US-??

As the cost of surgery goes up and the number of insurance companies

that will pay for this procedure goes down, I am being faced with

having to shop very carefully for where to have my surgery.

Most of the places in the US that I have contacted charge between

$20,000 and $25,000.

Countries like Costa Rica and Mexico charge $8,000 to $10,000. If you

are paying for this out of your own pocket, these figures will

certainly get your attention.

I have been communicating with several sites in Costa Rica, and

Mexico. I have been impressed with the doctors. All are US trained,

board certified and have performed a lot of surgeries.

Has anyone in this group ever considered this or know of anyone who

has had their bypass in another country.
