Guest guest
Hi! I'm TJ and I live in VA, too. What part of the state are you from? I agree with the person on the board who said to drink the protein drinks. I drink at least 3 a day. Whenever I get that " I'm so hungry I've gotta find something to eat NOW " feeling I drink protein and that helps curb my appetite. I keep a jar of the powdered protein at work to mix with water and drink it instead of hitting the machines. LEt me know how that works for you. I'll be glad to help if I can. I'm only 10 1/2 months out from wls, but I've lost 121 pounds...only 19 to go until I'm at goal. The protein drinks have been the answer for me. Good luck! Guest guest
Also remember that our doctors said its normal to occasionally plateau - our bodies are just catching up so to speak. Alot of times we won't show a loss on the scale but we are losing inches. My nutrionist reminds me that muscle weighs more than fat so we need to have patience even on those weeks when we don't show a loss. (I know its easier said than done . . .) Hang in there! Guest guest
Hello TJ! I'm and I live in Chesapeake. Thank you for your response. The Atkins shakes cost more than I anticipated however I found a protein powder by Met-Rx that you mix with water. It has 40 grams of protein but I see that it is 260 calories (25 from fat) and 6 grams of sugar with 19 grams of carbs. What do you think? What brand works for you. I must say that since I have discovered this support system on-line and valuable information I have started exercising again. I walked 3 miles today. Drinking lots of water. I found out too that I need to do more than just a multi-vitamin. (B12, iron, calcuim, folic acid). I'm excited about the information I have gained and I want to say THANK YOU to EVERYONE. I don't feel so out of control. What is a typical meal plan for you during the day? I'm on a roll!! BJ > Hi! I'm TJ and I live in VA, too. What part of the state are you > from? Guest guest
Hello, My name is and I just wanted to say Thank you for your support. It has been very beneficial. I feel like I'm getting back on track. I have a protein drink through Met-Rx that you mix with water that I'm trying. I started my day with 9oz of water, a 3 mile walk, 9oz of water, then an omelet with one egg, one single american cheese slice and 2ozs of turkey sausage. I'll do a protein drink between breakfast and lunch, then between lunch and dinner. Lunch is a salad, dinner is homemade chicken vegetable soup. I may have to do a protein drink between dinner and bedtime if I feel hungry. I hope that I'm on the right track. Do you have any suggestions? > Good Luck! > Let me know how it goes. You can e-mail me every day and tell me what you > ate and how it's going. > > >

Guest guest
I had mine in 1990 and in the same boat as you. If insurance or money was no object, have any of you found out if you could have an second operation? Also would the same doctor would do it for you? I would appreciate it very much. / northern California Re: Out of Control > Hi! Guest guest
Have you tried to go back and follow the eating program that you were on right after surgery? Go to the gastric bypass web sight and read the article " Pouch rules for dummies " This should put you back on track. Also instead of eating real food constantly try sucking on a sugar-free mint. I buy the bags of lifesaver butter toffee and the Baskin Robbins fruit flavor or chocolate mint {taste like Girl Scout thin mint cookies} Hope this will help you. A. B. Guest guest
Jan, I never thought I would be struggling again with my weight. I got alot of advise from reading messages but it's as if I never had the surgery because I'm struggling with hunger....... What do we do? > > Hi! Guest guest
Hello , I would have the surgery again today if I could, with all the information that's out now but I have no insurance right now and job hunting because of a layoff on my job. (Cut backs). I'll be willing to donate my body for an experimental procedure but I can't go back to 315lbs. I'm struggling right now with hunger all the time. I still can only eat small amounts of food but chips and cookies I can consume alot. I have quit drinking soda's and only drink water or crystal lite lemonade but that's not helpful when I've eaten 10 oreo's. Are you gaining too? > > Hi! Guest guest
I Thank GOD for this web site because I had a hard time obtaining information since It's been so long since my surgery. I was given a booklet of sample meals for a diabetic but they where not broken down in protions to accommodate the pouch. It was information for a diabetic patient and it had nothing to do with a gastric by-pass. But I will go to the web site you mentioned and get the candy. It's funny that you mentioned that because I buy them for my mother that's in a nursing home. She loves them, I never tried them. Thanks. > Have you tried to go back and follow the eating program that you were on > right after surgery?
