Thank you lilcomfycouch, for the info on iron. I guess you never stop

learning once you get the gastric bypass. It makes me want to get! as healthy as

possible since I've gotten a second chance! Thanks again, ann

My surgeon switched me to ferrous fumerate. He says it's better

absorbed than ferrous sulfate.

a nutritionist @ a support group also recommended the fumerate form of

iron.

I had the same problem, so I alternate between the ferrous fumerate

and a slow release iron pill. I also only take a pill every other

day.

Nothing at all indelicate about this subject. After 9+ months of diarhea daily

pre-op, imediately post-op I went to the other end of the scale ... the one

called CONCRETE. At my 3 month postop exam, I told my surgeon that it took 4 -

5 days of taking 3 ea doculax at bedtime to get any relief, he only suggested I

change to a stool softener and increase fluids. Nothing was said about reducing

intake of iron (he recommends hemocyte 324 mg). Maybe I will cut iron to every

other day to see if that helps. If my labs come back within range, that will be

my plan.

Subject: Re: Re: iron question

Hello Everyone,

This may be an indelicate subject but a necessary one for me. I have a hard

problem with iron making me constipated. I am real sensitive to iron as all of

my children with the iron in the formula.

How will this effect me do you think? Are there others that have the same

problem?

Thanks

Cherie
