Guest guest
Hi Joy, My name is . I am 320 lbs and I'm 30 yrs old. I'm going to schedule my surgery tomorrow. It should only be three weeks from now (if my insurance doesn't give me any problems). I totally feel your anticipation! I've had to endure a lot of opposition from some of my family members and friends. Have any of you dealt with this? Every time they tell me it's not a good idea, it makes me angry. I know that they care for me, but that is why they SHOULD want me to have this surgery. I'm 30 years old and I live like an elderly person. I can't walk for five minutes without having back and knee pain. I can't pick up and hold my 4 yr old daughter for more than 3 minutes (while standing). I want to run and play with my children. I want to take them to the fair and FIT on the rides. I want to order a meal without being worried about what the waiter/waitress is thinking of me. I feel like I'm stuck inside this body and I'm screaming to get out but nobody can hear me. I guess all I'm saying is that, you're not alone. We are all in this together.and together, we'll get through it. The most important thing to remember is who you are now. Don't ever forget yourself.I've spoken to a lot of people who have had this surgery and lost the weight. Before the surgery, they were funny, sincere, polite, and just good people. Afterwards, they let it go to their heads. Not only did they lose the weight, they lost their minds! They start judging people the way that they used to be judged. They become obsessed and disgusted with people who are overweight. Don't let that happen to you, stay true to who you are. Well I've blabbered on enough. Have a beautiful day everyone! I NEED INFO Hi I need to know if anyone out there had to use a speacial soap the night before there surgery and the day off there surgery and what the name was and also what are you allowed to have after you come home from surgery i'm 5 weeks away from surgery any information would be helpful thanks...Joy

Guest guest
, I too have heard a lot of opposition from my friends. But I have to over look it because the ones who are so against it are usually the least informed. People who do not know what this surgery is about and what we are trying to do tend to be against it. All they here are the bad stories the stories of those who have died. But what I have tried to tell them is that we all run the risk of dying every single day. Every time you get behind the wheel of a car you take that risk. And both of my friends who have spoken out the most about it have both had children. I try to explain to them that they could die in childbirth, but it was worth it to them to take that risk. You just have to stick to your guns and be as informed as you can and don't listen to what they say. Luckily my husband and my mother are both very much in my corner on this. My husband has even said that we can take out a loan to pay for it if the insurance does not. So focus on those in your corner and do you best to educate those who are not. That is the way I handle it.
