Guest guest
Have you looked on pecanbread.com? It is a very helpful site for parents. It is designed for kids with ASD, so it is non dairy SCD, but it is helpful for people on SCD who can also use the SCD yogurt and legal cheeses. I believe ascorbic acid is a legal additive. It is vitamin C. I'm the only one in my area on SCD, so I understand feeling lonely. This group has helped me so much with this. Feel free to post your questions. You are not alone. PJ > > My 11yo daughter, , has UC. Not responding to prednisone and Lialda. I am sure my doc is going to put her on an AZA or 6MP which I find scary, but nessesary for now. Remicade denied by insurance. I already have 10000 questions. But lets start with a few. Can I use ascorbic acid as a preservative? This is sad and a bit lonely. I don't know anyone locally doing this diet. >

I know it's scary, embarking on a major change of lifestyle, but this community becomes your local friends. And sometimes, you can find people nearby through the list who are willing to help you. SCD works. It isn't easy, but it works for many, many people. Meds aren't necessarily bad: sometimes they are needed. Several other people will doubtless mention low-dose naltrexone to you, which is something which out to be researched. Most doctors will not be familiar with its use for Crohn's and UC because it is FDA approved at a much higher dosage and the clinical trials for it at 1.0-4.5 mg are only beginning to be published.
