Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the best support group on the net. Everyone us is different. I personally have nothing but praise to say about this surgery. I had a very easy recovery. To this date {1 yr.} I have not had any problems. There is a risk to every medical procedure. But the risk is very small and the benefits of this surgery far out weight the risk. This surgery has saved my life. I was a bigger risk for this surgery because of my age and medical condition. I am 60 years old and weighed almost 400 lb., I was in a wheelchair, I have heart problems, an aortic aneurysm, arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic bronical asthma, very bad spinal stenosis and spinal deterioration, and I WAS a diabetic, and I HAD High blood pressure that was going to cause the aneurysm to rupture. I know longer have diabetes or high blood pressure. I am even able to get around the house now without my wheelchair. I was doomed without the surgery and now I have hope for a better life and more time with my family. I made the choice to take the chance and I went through it all with no problems. I have not been sick at all. Even though I weighed almost 400# I was still able to have a LAP. I was only in the hospital 2 days and as of this day I have lost 136 pounds. It has been one year and I would do it over again in a heartbeat. My husband stayed with me and it was wonderful to have him with me. If they don't you might want to ask. They only charged us 10 dollars a night and he had a real bed, not just a cot. Like I said I have not had any problems and with my age and condition you would expect that I might would have had some problems. I don't work but if I did I would say I would have been able to go back to work at about 2 weeks. I say this because one and half weeks after surgery I could not even tell that I had surgery except I could not eat very much. I feel great and had very little hair loss which came back in not time. I hope I have been of some help with your questions and will be more than glad to try to answer any questions you care to ask. We are here to help. Good luck and God Bless. A. B.
