Hi All,

I'm the mom of a 19 yr daughter. She had la forte 1 (upper jaw) on 12-

20-04. She's doing well, still on vicodin every 4-5 hrs.

Much bigger surgery then anticipated being the docs don't want to

tell all, (they didn't when I had a hyst either). I asked lots

of ??'s but even then didn't realize it would change the look of her

face. It's all fine thank goodness. She wasn't wired just rubber

bands. The surgeon wasn't 100% happy so put tention bands on that

actually pulled the incision/bone site to move the .5 mil. seemed

wierd but when we went back 1 wk late he said it was good and was

happy.

Just wanted to touch base and thank everyone for your support. Plus

how did your pain go, Katy's still like I said every 4-5 hrs taking

vicodin and I know she needs it.

Thanks much

Hi !

Glad to hear your daughter is doing so well. I had surgery on Dec.

8 (upper, lower and genio) and I used pain meds for about 10 days.

After that I started taking Tylenol PM's to help me sleep. (The

pain increased at night and sleep just wasn't happening.) I am four

weeks post op and i am still taking the PM's to help with sleep.

Hope that helps. Again, glad she is doing well. It will only get

better! I had my mom for the first week and couldn't have made it

without her. I'm sure your daughter feels the same.

Take care,

Casey

I am 34 yrs old and had upper and genio Nov. 17 and was off all pain

meds after 7 days. I would try to wean off the pain meds as soon as

possible. AS soon as she can handle the pain with tylenol I would

make the switch.

Hope all is going well for her.

YOUR INPUT IS HELPFUL, THANK YOU. THE SURGEON SAID ITS DIFERENT WITH

EACH PERSON, THE BOTTOM LINE IS COMFORT FOR SURE. MY DAUGHTER WHO IS

SENSITIVE ANYWAY IS EXTRA EMOTIONALLY SENSITIVE NOW WHICH AGAIN IS TO

BE EXPECTED.

EVERY DAY IS BETTER FOR SURE. SHE WENT WITH HER BOYFRIEND TO THE

HEALTH CLUB LAST NIGHT AND SAT IN THE HOT TUB, SAID IT WAS NICE, THEN

TO CHINESE REST AND HAD SWEET AND SOUR SOUP WHICH ISNT CHUNKY AT ALL.

SHE KINDOF PUSHS REALLY SOFT FOOD AROUND WITH HER TOUNGE AND FEELS

BETTER ABOUT FOOD VS ALL 100% LIQUID.

BEST TO YOU

MARY
