i cannot do any strenuous activity for 12 weeks after the surgery.

lifting i would think could even be longer because you strain your jaw

muscles while you lift, but i'm not sure. contact or dangerous sports

i can't do for 6 months (i ride horses and have to wait 6 months

before i can ride again :( )

these are good questions to ask your OS because every case is different.

Thanks for the info, I don't know how old you are and I have a good

idea that age plays a factor in recovery time. I'm thinking that

although I'd love to have this done before college, I just might not

have enough time considering the fact that I still need orthodontic

treatment (for the second time!). If worse came to worse it would

probably be better for me to schedule surgery after my freshman year,

when I have a much longer summer to recover and get back into shape.

Thanks for the info!

I am 24, so I am probably not too much older than you. I was told

that I can't play contact sports (I play a lot of basketball and was

told not to) or lift weights for 6 months. I am not supposed to do

anything " strenuous " for 6 weeks. I would ask your OS though,

he/she might be able to clear you sooner or something. I had my

surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago and I am just getting to where I feel up to

walking and going back to work, but again I am sure that each case

is different.

Hope that helps,
