Guest guest
Hi, Do you know what caused the gastroparesis? I think you will learn a lot about diet and GI symptoms here. The SCD is a healthy diet that benefits a lot of people with GI symptoms. I don't know how it specifically related to gastric issues, but it can certainly help with lower GI issues- which do affect the stomach as well. Give it a try. Many here are using SCD and fighting candida, which works well with SCD. Stick to it diligently. Hope you feel better, PJ > > Hello. I have been on and off the scd diet for over a year now. Guest guest
gastroparesis--is that where your stomach doesn't digest? I've read Protonix is prescribed for that but I don't know for sure. Kim M. may be able to help you with the SCDiet for those specific problems. Debbie 40 cd > Hi, > Do you know what caused the gastroparesis? Guest guest
Narcotic meds (that slow down gastric and intestinal motility) caused my gastroparesis. Don't know if the meds caused a bacterial infection which caused the gastroparesis and reflux, malabsorption, etc., or the gastroparesis caused the infection and reflux.... I am on propulsid and protonix. > > > > Hello. I have been on and off the scd diet for over a year now. Guest guest
If you are no longer on narcotics, ( and they were the problem ) the mobility should improve. SCD needs to be followed strictly. There are things you can do to help with digestion such as cook and puree foods ate first. Hopefully you will find relief if you stick strictly to SCD. Guest guest
I think we've talked before, but I'll give you my story again anyway! I have mild gastroparesis as part having Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction. I've managed to figure out what SCD foods work for my upper GI, so do fairly well. I deal with chronic nausea of course, along with some other chronic symptoms, but the longer I've been on SCD, the more stable my digestion has become -- as long as I stick to my core group of foods, supplement the minerals my body requires, and make sure I get plenty of rest and am stress-free. How I prepare the foods is also critical. It took me 2 years to get my candida overgrowth under control, and another 2 years to feel my gut ecology was finally balanced again. So it takes a while to achieve healing. I wasn't diagnosed with an IBD, and yet it still took time to heal because of my upper GI malfunctions and having to rebuild my gut ecology (massive antibiotic doses destroyed my intestinal flora). Of course what foods work best for my upper GI may not be exactly the same things that work for you. You will probably need to do some trial and error as I had to. My problem isn't that my stomach doesn't work properly -- my problem is that just below the stomach is my malfunctioning Sphincter of Oddi which prevents the stomach from emptying normally. But my stomach is just as sensitive to fat and fiber as yours is. It would help if you'd post a list of the foods and supplements you're currently using. I might see something that causes problems for my upper GI and can better suggest options for you, or see something you're taking that might contain hidden illegals. Kim M.
