There's one fellow who played the trumpet and lost his embouchure and his adeptness with the instrument after surgery. Now that's sad. He felt that playing the trumpet was his special ability. It can happen. But I think it doesn't always. Have you tried? If you were able to play with braces, I'd wager that was a good omen for you.
