Playing an instrument after surgery

I had my surgery (upper and lower) 3 weeks ago. I was just

wondering if any of you guys who have recovered were musicians. The

reason I ask is because I have played the flute for the past 14

years (I'm 23) and I was wondering if I would ever be able to play

again. I talked to my surgeon about this and I know that there was

the risk that I will not be able to play again because of permanent

numbness. I was wondering if any of you had played a wind

instrument before the surgery and if you were able to play it

afterwards? If so how long after, and did you have to learn a new

embroucher? You thoughts and experiences would be greatly

appreciated.
