is super cute!! My daughter gets her StarBand tomorrow morning. We have

to drive 2 hours to get it in Pittsburgh, PA, but it will be worth it. It's

very hot here, too, so I hope we can keep Corinne cool. I enjoyed reading your

post about 's first days in her helmet, because it gives me a little idea

about what to expect. Corinne is usually a very happy baby, too, so I hope she

adjusts to the helmet as well as .

Amber

Corinne-7 months and starts wearing her StarBand tomorrow (mommy's nervous!)

We live in MA but are going to RI next week for a scan of our son's

head for a StarBand. Where do you go? We are going to North East

Orthotics. This will be his 2nd helmet if he needs it. If you go to

North East Orthotics, how is it?

I hope continues to do well with her Starband. Like your daughter , my son Owen is pretty laid back and is generally a happy baby and has been in his Starband for seven weeks now with no problems. So I think with both of them having similar dispositions, she will do just fine!

Oh yeah, I'm not from RI but Buffalo NY and we are having a heatwave too! Thank goodness for AC!!

We got 's StarBand Yeserday afternoon and have breaking her in ever since. She is doing really well I think. The first wearing she didn't cry at all. What I have found is that is she is hungry or wet etc, her usual slow build up to being upset is much shorter. She is a very laid back baby and pretty happy most of the time so I am hoping she will continue to cruise right along. She had a bunch of red spots in the office but the ortodist hit them all and she only has one in the front that fades within a few minutes so I am happy to see that also.Of course we are Having a heat wave here in RI so I cranked up the AC whic is great since our electric company was just allowed to hike thier rates 20%...Oh the Joys of this Staycation Summer!I added a pic of in her helmet under R babies.Anyone else from RI on here?

Yes, we do go there. From what I can tell, with the DocBand Cranial

tech peeps in CT somewhere Northeast is the only game in town and

quite frankly I didn't know until I got on this group that there were

any other kinds of bands.

They have been really nice so far. At our first visit we had Bill

who did a very good job explaining all the measurements and where

they hoped to get the numbers for and also the reasons why

this is more then just cosmetic etc. Our appt to pick up the helmet

was for yesterday and Bill was on vacation so we saw who was

also very nice and explained everything and even gave me the hint

about breaking up the hour or so she gets to have it off so that she

gets some 15min breaks and not just all at once(he actually told us

22-23 hrs a day was fine). He also did a nice job as I said before

with shaving off the pressure points and after one and a half days of

breaking in all the red spots fade within the hour it is off. I don't

know what your Insurance is but no matter what the $50 for the scan

is not covered. So far I like them both and when the girl asked if I

prefered one or the other I said no because so far they both have

seen her for important visits. I also find them really easy to get

into see, I am home with and my son right now so I can go

whenever but I had to change an appt for next week and it was no

problem. When I read how far people have to travel for this I thank

God we live right over the bridge and 5mins from Northeast. If you

know any Rhode Islanders you know anything more then 30mins away

requires an overnight bag! We do not like to travel far for

anything. Small State mentality.

I hope you have a good experience there.

Where did you go for his first Band? Was it a good or bad

experience? Have you had the scan before? It is amazing technology

to me.

good Luck!

Thank you so much for your reply! It's nice to hear good things

about where we'll be going. Did your insurance cover 's band?

How is she doing in it now that she has had it a few days?

For 's first helmet we went to Ocean Orthotics in Fall River.

They also have an office in Providence that we went to sometimes. It

was a passive band and after 3 1/2 months his pediatrician doesn't

really like the shape of his head. And to be honest I wasn't

thrilled with the place we were going. We went there because we were

told our insurance wouldn't pay for the helmet at Northeast

Orthotics. They paid for the whole thing at the place we went. I

think we'll have to pay for this 2nd one out of pocket. He

tolerated the helmet fine. It was made by Ballert. I put a couple

pictures of him in the Plagio " A " babies. He is C.

He didn't get his head scanned for his first one- he had it casted.

It was horrible- I felt bad for him. He was 4 months at the time.

Now he is 8 1/2 months old. How old is ? I am excited to see

how the scanner is used.

Thanks again for the reply! Good luck with the heat!

is doing great. We even skipped one of the training days and

went to fulltime wearing on Sunday since she was fine for more the 4hr

on Saturday. She has slept normall and everything. can't believe it

has been so smooth. Cuddling with it on before bedtime is cumbersome

but we are working that out. No red spots that stick around for very

long either. Thanks for asking.

BTW... is wicked cute and by the looks of the Red Sox

logo...obviously being raised right!

turned 5months old on Saturday! So funny because on the one

hand I want this go by fast for her(and us too to be honest) but this

is also such a fun baby age that I don't want to wish it to be over

because of all that goes with wearing the band.

Oh, thank you! I think is pretty cute too!

We had our appointment at Northeast today. We saw Bill. Just like

you said- he was so good at explaining all the numbers. After 3 1/2

months in his first helmet he still has a mild case of plagiocephaly

so we are going to get a helmet through them. We chose the blue fly

and drive pattern- so much better than the plain white one!

Thanks for all your info! Maybe we'll run into you there sometime!

How is making out with her helmet? How many hours a day is

she up to?
