when is it safe to consume beer or wine after having gastric bypass?

a friend of mine had her gastric 6 yrs ago and told me she could

drink 5 -6 coronas when she would go out and she was 6 mos post op

at the time...she said nothing was different after the bypass except

it took less alcohol to get a buzz...this doesnt sound right to

me...that seems like a lot to me...but she said she was single then

and drank like this at least 3 times a month..has anyone out

there " been there,done that? " i have tried 1 beer over a 3 hour

period of time, and i was fine but was afraid to drink faster than

that so therefore i didnt get any kind of feeling at all...i must

confess i use to drink 6-10 beers in an evening a couple times a

month and have done this for years, so im use to alot of beer and i

do miss having a good time! im 6 mos. post op...any info would be

soooo appreciated.. thanks pam...

Pam,

Personally, for me, this was a life changing surgery. I wanted to break

ALL of my bad habits...not just the food addiction. Alcohol is empty

calories for one thing, why do you want to do that to yourself? We all

know it's not healthy for us....and why do you need alcohol to have a

good time anyway?? My personal opinion is that for me, I wouldn't drink

at all. I don't need it....and just because I may want something,

doesn't' t mean that I need it or that it's good for me. With making the

decision to rearrange my insides, my life choices got rearranged as

well......
