Guest guest
Hi Cindy, I had gny lap 1/17/01. Before surgery I could drink like a fish. After surgery I waited a year I would have two drinks that's all it took then three, four ect. Before surgery I was able to stop drinking. For me I would said don't play with fire it seems for some reason people that has had the surgery can an alcoholic before you know it. This is what happen to me. Please if you can reframe from it please do. I never in my life thought that I would have such a problem. I started AA and got my ninety day chip last Tuesday. Drinking caught up to me so fast my head was spinning. It was so much fun in the beginning but as this disease progress it's not any fun any longer. So Just be very careful. I don't think once every few months would hurt but a few times a week, well for me that ended up day and night 24/7 and I sure don't want that to happen to anyone else. Good Luck 325/145 but I gained 15 pounds since I stopped drinking and eating the wrong foods such as sugar. I don't like beer but I choose mixed drinks. I will drink the ones with low sugar and calories. Not alot lot but I will drink one or two. That's enough for me. You get a buzz faster than before surgery. Check it out on the web but I think it is rum, vodka, gin, tequila mixed with diet soda. " i have tried 1 beer over a 3 hour period of time, and i was fine but was afraid to drink faster than that so therefore i didnt get any kind of feeling at all...i must confess i use to drink 6-10 beers in an evening a couple times a month and have done this for years, so im use to alot of beer and i do miss having a good time! im 6 mos. post op...any info would be soooo appreciated.. thanks pam...
