Guest guest
I don't understand this post. Why is she having to apologize. Fay Bayuk
Guest guest
> I need to apologize to any one I offended for posting the cost of my surgery. I am definitely an acception to the rule on the amout the surgery cost. Most everyone has no complications so there is a better side. No one wants to be the one with the complications. I just want people to know that if you are it can cost you and your family. Please forgive me I didn't mean to scare anyone off. The decision to have this surgery is private and personal to each indiviual. Thanks for listening to me. Sharon in AR<<< Sharon, in my opinion, you have absolutely nothing to apologize for. You simply told us your story and reminded us that sometimes complications do happen. And we don't choose whether or not we have them by whether we have insurance or self-pay. Anyone considering this surgery needs to know all the facts, the risks as well as the benefits. That goes for financial risks as well as physicial and emotional risks. These situations may not happen often but they do happen. People need to be aware and make their decision about the surgery after weighing out their own situation. It is dangerous to ignore the risks in any major decision. Thanks you for sharing your personal situation. It should serve to open everyone's eyes a little wider and broadens everyone's perspective of the whole picture of the surgery. Guest guest
I think this may be partly my fault. After Sharon posted the cost of her surgery, I came back and mentioned that normally the cost is not that high. It is, of course, also true that people need to know that there are complications to this surgery and that needs to be emphasized. Everyone needs to look at all aspects of this surgery. I am on several sites and just had this mental image of scaring some lurking newbie completely away from this surgery that might otherwise be okay. I promise this has more to do with me and little to do with Sharon. The complications should never scare any one away and if it does, they probably don't need to be having the surgery to begin with. A friend and I facilitate a group in our area for both pre and post ops. Sometime I get chills hearing how little some of the post ops actually knew before they had their surgeries. Very scary. Guest guest
I was self-pay, and was aware I could " lose it all " with complications. I was fortunate not to have had any, but when it came down to it, it was like jumping off a cliff into unknown waters, not knowing if there were rocks or other hazards just under the surface...I just held my nose, closed my eyes and jumped! The water was free of hazards for me, and fortunately, I haven't had a complication of any sort in 3 years. But, I really took a chance! Regards~ Jacque Distal RNY, 5/30/00 Drs.
