Guest guest
During the first two weeks of surgery, the jaw is thinking " Do I go here... or do I go there? " . It is still unsure yet. The purpose of the splint (and the elastics) is to train the jaw into the new position. If you notice the splint has " grooves " - they're there to accomodate the new " intended " bite position. Btw, I had my surgery 3 weeks ago and now I find the general orientation of my lower jaw to be slanted to the right and my upper jaw doesn't seem to level horizontally. All these disappoint and frustate me. But I've decided to live with them rather than undergo another surgery - because I think that would be quite vain. humble_carp > > Any idea what this splints purpose is?? Well, just a thought. > jane
