Digestive enzymes while on anti-candida SCD

Hi everyone,

I'm needing to add more carbs in - if i decide to introduce digestive enzymes

should i try Digest Gold (with ViraStop maybe?) or peptizyde and HN-Zyme from

Houston Enzymes? I'm currently using antifungals (rotating every 2 weeks -

Capryl, Candidase, olive leaf extract). Can you use antifungals and digestive

enzymes - maybe just take them an hour or more away from each other? Reading on

enzymestuff.com i'm just not sure if i should try Digest gold with the high

protease and fruit derived enzymes (bromelain, papain) since i'm fighting yeast.

Fruit and higher vegetable carbs are a problem and when i eat too much fat

(olive oil) i have a pain in my upper right side - gall bladder i think. The

Candidase i did ok on starting with 1/2 capsule for 4-5 days and then 1 capsule

for a week. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! :)

SCD - 17 months

SCD and anti-candida - almost 4 months

Gluten Sensitive dx - 01/08

Gluten free - 01/08

Heya ,

I have learned that Digestive Enzymes are a pretty loaded subject.

Very good that you are reading Enzymestuff.com

If you are having GB issues you may be better off taking a high Pancreatin type

enzyme. Broad support enzymes are good in general as they provide a balance. I

wouldn't be too worried about the yeast connection since part of what feeds

yeast is non fully digested food. It's a chicken/egg scenario really.

Maybe you should try a Betaine Hydrocholride first.

If you have low stomach acid to begin with this will be great.

If your stomach acid is too much it will make you feel horrible.

Part of the issue then becomes maintaining a good PH. I personally do this by

drinking lemon water daily every AM.

Rotating antifungals is very important as well as switching them every couple of

weeks. You can add something like extra virgin coconut oil into the mix and/or

Lauricidin which is a chemical compound within coconut oil. IMO the Lauricidin

(not the coconut oil itself) needs to be taken far from probiotics in general.

Hey Jodi,

Thank you so much for the helpful information. Maybe i'll try the Betaine

Hydrochloride first. I'm not sure if i have too much acid or not enough - is

there a test i can do myself (i guess taking the Betaine Hydrochloride may tell

me huh?) or can my Dr. do a test? Any recommendations on an SCD legal betaine

hydrochloride and also a legal pancreatin enzyme in case i need to try that?

I'm glad to hear the lemon juice helps you - i've just started adding that (2

tiny drops in warm water first thing in the morning). Lemon juice really killed

my stomach before but i think i was taking too much. It seems ok now since it's

a tiny amount and i don't do it every morning. Thanks again so much....you're a

great help! :)

Thanks Amelia!

This sounds like it could really be what's happening for me - from my symptoms

and irritated stomach lining it would make sense. Thanks for posting this

informaton, it really helps! I just did the baking soda test (1/4 tsp of baking

soda w/8 oz cold water) and my stomach just gurgled about 10 min. or so after

drinking it - no burping yet. So, it seems to me i'm low in stomach acid.

Thanks so much! :)

Thanks Mara! I checked my Kroger for the Spectrum and it looked liked it had

the mother as well so i bought some more Bragg's with the mother (it was on

sale) and if i try the ACV i'll just strain it out. I give a little to my dog

(she sometimes has yeast problems too!) so i'll strain it for her too!

Thanks!:)

of that in the morning. Did you just mix a small amount with a little water or

drizzle it on his food? Is Bragg's ACV with the mother SCD legal? That's what

i have but may go ahead and get the regular to try. Seems like for some reason

i've read the kind with the mother wasn't but could be wrong.

Sorry I have been a bit busy. Thought I had a flight today but looks

like I am snowed in!

Any updates as to what you did?

you feeling better at all?

Jodi

> Should i try the 4 hour cooked carrots again as listed on the Intro while

fighting candida or should i just stick to the broccoli & asparagus i know i can

tolerate? The carrots agreed with me in the beginning of the diet but the last

time i was eating them i wasn't cooking them 4 hours and i was using the

mini-carrots unpeeled so that may have been part of it. I'm going to try jello

again although i don't tolerate anything to mix it with - maybe i could make it

with water and a tiny bit of honey. I did that during my colonoscopy prep and

from what i could tell it was ok. Thanks again! :)

hi ,

I've suspected for a while that I did. That was especially during the time that it was impossible to lie on my back due to the pressure up high and into my chest. My doctor suggested raising my bed a few inches, no food or drink before bed, a big glass of water in the morning and 10 heel drops to pull my stomach down. That helped. Even now there is a very specific line of pressure right under my rib cage in my solar plexus. So maybe I should still be following that protocol. What is "sphincter of oddi dysfunction"?
