Brown/tan spot on inside his Doc Band

My DS got his 2nd band recently. I took it off to find a huge, red welt on his

forehead that was about 1.5 to 2 inches long and about an inch wide. Some of

the hairs on his eyebrows even came off.

His Doc Band also had a weird brown/tan spot on the inside of his Band that

smelled.

Has anyone experienced this? If so, what did you do?

I called CT but my DPT was not available--of course, it's Friday, so I have to

wait till Monday. I plan on taking it off for today and see if it goes down.

It sounds like it's too tight on his forehead, so if the welt/redness doesn't go

down or fade within an hour, I would leave it off until Monday when you can go

in for an adjustment. My son had some red spots at first with both his bands,

and I was told that as long as it would fade for the most part, and didn't get

worse at each check, it was fine (we had to travel 2.5 hours each way to CT, so

whatever I could do to avoid an unscheduled trip I would do). Each time I

checked, his red spot would be a little lighter and/or smaller, so I kept it on

him. But if you don't feel comfortable, definitely leave it off until Monday.

The brown spot is just dirt/grime. My son's bands had brown spots. You can scrub

at them with a dry course cloth/towel (before using rubbing alcohol) and that

usually helps get some of the brown to go away. Otherwise, just scrub the heck

out of it with alcohol. A soft bristle toothbrush works great, if you're not

already using it.
