Guest guest
Debbie, I embraced alternative medicine after a long series of mis-diagnoses and unnecessary procedures. After Crohn's was correctly diagnosed, misguided treatment and lack of concern nearly caused my death. I've come to fear allopathic medicine. I have a problem in that I fail sometimes to give enough information when I tell others about what I have learned. I appreciate your concern and your questions. Anyone on prescription blood-thinners should not take K2 without first clearing it with his/her doctor. My doctor hadn't heard of it. Yours probably hasn't either. Coumadin does the opposite of K2, in transferring calcium from bone to artery. Vitamin K1 is the blood clotting vitamin. If you buy vitamin K, you will probably get K1. One source of K2 is the very limited conversion from K that takes place in the body. The primary source of K2 on the market is from fermented soy. The Rotterdam research focused on certain cheeses as a source of K2. Weston price used butter oil. Please do not take K2 until you have satisfied yourself as to its safety and efficacy. I need to stop making recommendations, but I will suggest that those with concern about platelet aggregation and arterial plaque do some research on aged garlic (Kyolic) and omega 3. Even The American Heart Assn. published a report suggesting that people take garlic to improve artery health.
