Ugarte, Health Program Director at Farmworker Justice. During the hour-long presentation, Mr. Ugarte will discuss the following: - What is Community Mobilization? - How is Community Mobilization different from other health promotion approaches? - Why is Community Mobilization especially relevant for rural Latino communities? - "Sana La Rana", a successful Community Mobilization program. A. Ugarte, M.S.P.H., has more than 30 years of US-based and international experience working in conceptualizing, developing, directing and evaluating evidence-based, community-driven, culturally competent health mobilization programs. Through his unique experience and background he has developed expertise in analyzing, crafting, and evaluating major public health policy issues, especially as they relate to "hardly-reached" groups. Currently he serves as Director of Health Programs for Farmworker Justice and Senior Technical Director with the Institute for Hispanic Health at the National Council of La Raza (NCLR). He has authored over 35 publications and abstracts in lay and professional periodicals and journals in Spanish and English.
