Guest guest
Regression reportedly happens only about 1% of the time. It's really rare. I didn't have to worry about it because my son was already 2 when he graduated. It sounds like your son is up off his head a lot, especially if he sleeps on his tummy, so he's already really helping you out! And in three weeks he may even be crawling, which will help even more. If you're worried about it, I would just do what you can to keep him off his head as much as possible, though I probably wouldn't worry about aggressively repositioning him in his sleep or anything like that. Just do as much as you feel comfortable with. Once he starts crawling, he'll be on the move almost constantly, so hopefully you will have no worries of regression very soon! He sleeps on his tummy most of the time. We are worried about regression when he gets it off since he is till on his back some. Should we be worried? Guest guest
I have the same fears. My daughter is now only 7 months and has had her band off for about 2 weeks. I am constantly looking at her head to see if it has changed shapes. She is still rolling around but has just started to rock on her hands and knees. She also always goes to sleep on her back or side, about half the time she rolls to her stomach. The ortho told us it was very rare to have regression, but it is still a worry. Guest guest
I too worried about regression - However, Lucy has been out of her helmet now for 2 months and is now 8.5 months old. She is sitting up and rolling (still not crawling) but prefers to sleep on her back. I do check her head often but feel we still have our nice round head that we graduated with two months ago. I would just keep an eye on it and if you feel like there is any regression happening, head back in to see your orthotist for some quick measurements to hopefully calm your fears. My ortho told me I could come back anytime to get measurements if I was concerned at all. I too heard that there is only a 1% chance of regression occurring. Good luck and congrats on the soon to be graduate!! - Meg, mom to Lucy 8.5m, STARband grad 1/08 Milwaukee, WI > > > > > > Our son is 7 mo 1 week.
