Guest guest
SOMEWHERE IN SOUTH CAROLINA (JUNE 26): The VitaTour rolled on yesterday with stops in Baltimore, Vienna VA, Richmond VA, and Rocky Mount NC. We saw lots of folks (except at Baltimore, we'll get to that in a minute) and some interesting sights as well. We introduced the VitaCouple to South of the Border (and its 4 million billboards starting somewhere in Canada), although we didn't stop there (it's gotten quite seedy). Well, the day started out rather ominously as the first stop turned out to be a boarded-up Mc's with a blocked-off parking lot. Needless to say we didn't have breakfast there like we'd planned. The fault for this lies solely with Bill Gates as his product did not indicate that the store closed over 3 months ago, according to our waitress at the " Happy Day Diner " where we ended up dining. So we started the day 0 for 1... On to Washington DC, and the infamous Beltway, where we were treated to a lovely rubber-necking delay. Seems every one going our way just HAD to look at the smushed-up cars that had a crash going the other way. Flashbacks to the Garden State Parkway started to rear their ugly heads, but we passed the backup a short while later and arrived on time (yes, you read that correctly) to our lunch engagement in Vienna, VA. Here we had our largest turnout yet as we were greeted by 7 people from all over the DC area (and even from as far away as West Virginia!) We had a great time at the Olive Garden and were sorry to go, but press on we must... Next stop was Chester, VA outside of Richmond. We were late getting there, but Carol Ivory & her husband and Monty were waiting to meet us. wanted to use the outdoor PlayLand, but it was too hot from the 95+ degree weather. Now, you're talking serious heat when a 3-year old won't use the playground equipment... On to Rocky Mount! Only one official representative of North Carolina met us at Applebee's (Gwen ), but a good time was had for sure. Protein sampling must go on, whether it's for 1 person or 100, right? The last leg took us to Florence where we spent the night and then started today with breakfast with Sue Rudnicki. We're now headed to lunch in Savannah followed by dinner in ville. Then it's to Chateau Mayers for a day followed by visits to West Palm Beach and wrapping up in Bradenton.
