Tina,

I am glad to know that I am not alone in losing height along with losing

weight.. I even had my bone density tested after I had been told that my height

had decreased by one inch.. from 5'7 yto 5'6 . However, I probably look like

a giant to you.. you cute little elfin thing.. with the cutest toes in the

world..

Peachy hugs,

Fay, when I lost all my weight (110 lbs worth), I also lost my shoe size (from

7W to size 3 kids....) hence my height went from 5'0 to 4'11.....

Uh oh. I just measured my height. I was 5' 6 1/2 at the docs pre op. I now

measure 5 " 5 1/4. I guess when I see doc I'll need a bone scan. Darn it. I

am faithful with taking the calcium twice daily.

Fay,

Is that only 1000 mg of elemental (as citrate, of course)? I take 2000

and 2500 if I'm having a good-schedule day as I am concerned that our

malabsorption issues in general will carry over to calcium as well. My

DEXAs are normal so far (at 35 yo).

I shrank about an inch and a half, from 6' 3 1/2 " to 6' 2 " . I think it

is more to do with old age settling in that the operation. Also, many,

if not most, would recommend that you take calcium supplements three

times a day, if not four. Taking calcium just twice a day is on the

borderline of being adequate at best.
