It does take time, but SCD works! Guest guest
Now I've been on SCD for 3 months and I feel absolutely great, I have completely normal bowel movements and no bloating or pain of any kind! As a bonus, the acid reflux problem that I had for years is gone! It is an amazing blessing to have found this diet and would encourage anyone to try it and be patient, it takes some time but I know it works! That's amazing!! Just curious: did you go on the intro diet at all, and progress slowly adding foods, or did you just eat everything that was allowed on the diet from the beginning?Congrats on your health!! Peace =)Alyssa 16 yo UC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)Azathioprine 50 mg 1x per dayPrednisone 40 mg 1x per day

Guest guest
The first 4-5 days I did the intro diet, mostly scrambled eggs for breakfast and homemade chicken soup or really soft boiled vegetables. After that, I went on to grilled fish and chicken with boiled vegetables(green beans and carrots). The nut flours caused a little trouble at first so I had to wait a while, even now I can't eat whole nuts or raisins, or peanut butter. I found the almond butter seems to be easier to digest so I try to substitute that for the almond flour. I've been staying fairly conservative on trying new things. > > > Now I've been on SCD for 3 months and I feel absolutely great, I > > have completely normal bowel movements and no bloating or pain of > > any kind! Guest guest
,You might try soaking your almonds/pecan/walnuts first, then dehydrating them. I do this with all my nuts and it definitely helps with digestion. You need to add about 1 TBSP coarse sea salt to 4 cups of almonds/cashews (only 2 tsp coarse salt with pecans and walnuts) with enough filtered water to cover by a couple of inches. Leave to soak at room temperature at least 7 hours then rinse and dehydrate on cookie sheets in an oven at a temp below 150F for 12 - 24 hours --stirring as necessary. If you use almonds with the skins, after soaking, they will slip right off. It takes me about an hour to skin 1.3 KG of almonds, and another 15 to rinse and set them on to dry. If you can get whole blanched almonds, even better. They are done when they are crispy to chew. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place or fridge. My husband couldn't eat pecans or walnuts because they caused so much wind, now they don't bother him. AmeliaHusband UC 9 years, SCD 20 monthsLDN 3 mgP.S. The above soaking instructions came from 'Nourshing Traditions' by Sally Fallon. It is the best nutrition/cookbook you will ever see. Very informative and I hightly recommend it.To: BTVC-SCD Sent: Sun, March 7, 2010 2:31:07 AMSubject: Re: My SCD success story The first 4-5 days I did the intro diet, mostly scrambled eggs for breakfast and homemade chicken soup or really soft boiled vegetables.
