Heyla, folks....

Given that we often have discussions about The Dread Ch-c-l-t- And C-c--,

I thought it interesting that I stumbled across this:

http://tinyurl.com/yjrshdq

a book on that dire subject published in the 1920s, when Dr. Haas must

have been delineating and researching what would become the allowed foods

on what is now our Specific Carbohydrate Diet.

My brain tilts at the complexities.

My brain tilts at the complexities.Yeah, it's pretty intense. It looks like about 6% of the cacao bean is starch though, so it looks like Elaine was justified in making them illegal. Here's what I find interesting though:"Cacao beans, in common with other seeds, contain all the substances necessary to nourish the growing plant during germination..." (p. 119)This makes me think that the composition of cacao beans would be very similar to the composition of other seeds. And that maybe other seeds would have some starch in them too, if many plants need it to grow. But I couldn't find the composition of any other seeds online, unfortunately, to check. Definitely mind-boggling.

I

can tell I’m going to spend time reading over this information. Thanks

for discovering it.

Yeah, and would you believe I was looking for stuff on the Canadian

Rockies when I found it?

Heh.

Six degrees, aye! Turned out one of the researchers had the same

surname (and may have been a relation) of one of the early explorers of

the Rockies.
