Guest guest
I am 6 months post op and yes, my lower lip and chin are still numb. Like you, I don't mind the numbness, but the tightness drives me crazy. My OS warned me of the dangers of permanent numbness, but said it would not be a function problem. To me it is. My lips don't want to move when I talk which makes talking look and feel awkward. I am still holding out hope that things will get better. I wish I could give you hope with my success story, but I am still waiting. I wonder is anyone out there had this problem long term and it got better. > > I know we have beat the numbness question to death, but, I am 10 > weeks post op now and am beginning to be able to feel for instance > cold or pinches in my lower lip, The feeling issue is not so much a > worry anymore. Guest guest
Dwilzen I dpn;t know of this helps. I am three weeks post-op today. My lower lip and chin are still somewhat numb but I have been feeling cold and deep pressure for a week and pinching on the left half for the past few days. It feels fat but a lot less so now than even a few days ago. I get kind of a tingling in surges, particularly in my chin and usually more late in the day than early. I'm sure that it's getting better but still have anxiety that progress will halt, or the twinges will go on for ever. That being said, all the signs are good and, although you're getting theimprovements a few weeks after me (everyone is different), it seems like you're on the right path. And we haven't beat the numbness thing to death. I may have some trouble chewing and opening my mouth, but the darn numbnedss is the most irritating part of the recovery. Sharing experience is some solace. Hang in there.
