Guest guest
As a matter of fact I have been getting that intense nerve pain across the tops of my feet off and on for several months now. Does you feel a tingling sensation along with the pain or just pain? Any problems walking? Do your feet go numb? I’m fairly certain of what triggers it for me, as it occurs when I’m walking or sometimes bending. In my case that means my lumbar spine is shifting as a result, and since I have ongoing rather serious deterioration in my lumbar vertebrae, it pinches the large bundle of nerves that run from the spine down the legs to the feet. I also have bilateral peroneal mononeuropathy, which is technical jargon meaning the nerve bundles that run along the outside of the leg through the knee and down to the toes are 90% numb all the time, which means I have foot drop as well. Nerve pain comes and goes from that, but rarely across the top of my feet; it is confined to the bottoms of my feet. So between the lumbar spine damage and the numb legs and feet walking can be difficult at times, and painful. However the intense nerve pain that runs across the top of my feet is new, and since I’m also experiencing increased chronic pain in my lumbar I’m guessing the vertebra damage has worsened. Guess I’ll have to schedule a visit with my neurosurgeon for another check [sigh]. Pinched nerves in the lumbar region is a common problem. If you are also feeling kidney pain, and there are several nerve bundles that run along the spine near the kidneys, I’m guessing the two are connected. I’d check in with your primary care physician, perhaps see a neurologist if the kidneys check out OK. Any chance you’re taking a calcium supplement? Or trying a new calcium supplement? I ask only because this type of supplement routinely aggravates my kidneys and my lumbar and lower ribs. It has been a struggle finding a calcium supplement my body will tolerate; and I can only take a dose every two weeks in order not to aggravate my lower back and kidneys. So if you are taking a calcium supplement, you could stop it for a few weeks and see if your feet pain symptoms disappears. Of course I’d still check in with your doctor as well. Kim M. It's a sudden pain and comes on almost as quickly as it leaves. Sometimes it happens several times a day, and sometimes it doesn't happen for months. Does anyone know what causes that? I'm curious.
