Guest guest
I would have responded but I`m in Alaska. Alice hardestyal hardesty@... Exersise.... I posted earlier this week, and I cant believe that I got zero response?? I really am looking for someone to work out with 3 to 4 times a week, in the evenings after 6 30 pm. I live in the Seal Beach area, and have a gym in the bldg I live in. Im serious about this, just need a partner to go with. I am 7 months post op, and need to work out on a more regular basis. I do walk the tread mill and do some weights, but feel if someone was to go with me, It would be more encouraging to make it a routine. Anyone in the area, please feel free to email me personally on yahoo. Thank you. Leah
Guest guest
Leah, I can understand how you feel. I'm starting my gym workout routine tomorrow and it is so much easier doing it with someone else. More motiviation and competition is what I call it. I'd be there but unfortunately I'm in Ohio Good luck, take care and keep up the good work. Laurette 4/23/04 309/290/265/???
Guest guest
Hi Sonja Well, here is my story, kind of reader's digest version. I currently weigh around 265 (size 26-28) and have a BMI of 49, I am 5 ft 1 inch, and have been this way for about 16 years.. Well, I gained it over that time.. Everyone on this board understands more than most. (in 1986 I weighed 125). 4 pregnancies, bad eating habits, and a bad car accident on 2-3-03 (that ended my ability to work in my prior job) have all helped me along to become this weight through the years. I saw my doctor about my weight last September, the only thing that ever kind-of worked was the phen-fen, but after that was pulled by the FDA, I gained the 50 I lost back, plus maybe 15 pounds for fun! My doctor asked if I had ever considered wls, and I really hadn't. My doctor has a mom and sister who have had it, and highly recommended it to me. I researched it, and decided it was my best shot at losing my weight and being healthier, I called for the free informational seminar at the doctor's office that she recommended, and they had me call my insurance to confirm that it was covered. I had never dreamed it would not be, I mean all you have to do is look at me to know I need it. Well, my insurance flat out denied it, saying they never pay for it, even with doctor's letters and documentation. I also looked it up in my health insurance handbook, and it is listed as never covered under any circumstance.. Well, I cried for about 2 weeks and then decided that " it isn't that bad " and " I can learn to embrace my size as part of me " ... Well, needless to say, I was trying to convince myself and it was not working. That was October 3003. I could not do anything else, tho, so I stuck to it. I had failed at so many diets already. I would burst into tears if anyone even mentioned wls to me after that, I couldn't even talk about it being a someday possibility.. I avoided the subject pretty much until May 2004. My mother mentioned to her cousin that I had been really upset about not being able to get the surgery, just in normal conversation and she suddenly said " well, I'd like to help her " and offered to pay for the surgery. I didn't ever ask her for it, and had no idea the cost, so I called every doctor I could find in Minnesota and Wisconsin to get estimates. The low end was $22,000 and the high end was $60,000. I went for the low end, Dr Baker in Fridley, MN. They told me that it would probably be around $22,000 to $26,000. I talked to my 2nd cousin and she said she could pay $25,000.. I was worried that I would go over that amount with the hospital, anesthesia, and doctor.. and what if I had a complication.. that could end up being a lot more money. Time was also an issue, my cousin wanted it done as soon as possible, and so did I, but everywhere was a wait, and psych testing and dieting beforehand - even if you were a cash patient. So I researched it and made a decision.. I am going to Mexico.. I deposited the check on June 9th, and we are waiting for it to clear. Tentatively my surgery date is July 6th, when the check clears it will be definite. Well, I guess I sure rambled on! I am getting very nervous about it, and scared. I know it is the right choice, but I guess I can't help but be a little scared. I am confident about Mexico, and the surgeon, it is just after that I am worried about.. Well, I sure wrote enough! Sorry it's so long!! Staci > Hey Staci..... > I didn't know that you haven't had the surgery yet ????
