Guest guest
I've been on the diet a little less than a year. I've had my ups and downs just like everyone else on the SCD diet, but i've never been 100% ok yet. I either have a little bit of Mucus or a little bit of blood or both. Not enough to hold me back from anything in life, and everything was coming out normal (solid) at the time. There was only once when I had a definite reaction to a food which was green beans. I had a flare the night I tried them, stopped eating them and the flare went away as quickly as it came and never returned. So, I cut out the green beans and I was fine. I'm wondering now what happens if i've been eating something all along that is giving me a small reaction (because of the little blood or mucus all the time) but I was just never able to identify it because of how little it effected me. Would I still heal if i'm eating something that i'm having a very mild reaction to or will I never heal until I identify it?Anyone have similar experiences? I'm going to try and go back to square 1 as soon as I heal and get off these steroids(full of illegals), which should be soon.-UC - 1+ yearsSCD - 7 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 5 pills a day Hotmail: Trusted email with Microsoft’s powerful SPAM protection. The probability is that you will ultimately heal, but it will take longer. There is a supplement which I need to prevent muscle spasm in my back. It's not legal, and can't be compounded. I discussed it with Elaine, because my alternative is codeine, and I'd rather not go that route. She said that for me, the benefits outweighed the issues, but it would take me longer to fully heal. Turn's out, she was right. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
Anyone have similar experiences?YES. I've been on the diet for also a little under a year, and I've never had 'normal' BMs except while on prednisone. Well, I would have maybe one or two days where I would spontaneously have a solid stool, but other than that, it's been pretty much constant D. Which is stopped now that I'm on prednisone. So I also wonder if I've made any progress at all just by being 100% legal for so long, even if there could be something that hasn't been agreeing with me this whole time. Guest guest
After you wean the pred, I would redo the intro and add one new food in at a time. One of the moderators will have specific instructions on it. It would be hard to tell on pred, I think. Btw, green beans are supposedly easy for most but I spasm a lot--badly when I eat them so unless you are a green bean fiend, just don't eat it. It could be you're still healing, sometimes it takes longer than a year to heal. You could keep a food diary for when you have b or m. I'm trying new things and am extremely bloated so if I don't step back completely, it'll be starting over again. That's the way it works sometimes but once it's identified (if it is a specific supplement or food) then just always remember to avoid it.
