Guest guest
I have always boiled the hell out of corn on the cob.... when I was in the grocery the other day they had a sign that said you only have to boil it for 4min. I tried it, it seemed raw to me. they also had a sign that said 15min. on the grill for roasted corn - has anyone done this? we soaked it for an hour and roasted it for more like 20min. and it was raw tasting, hard. any suggestions? sue
Guest guest
I don't know about the boiling thing but when my Dad use to grill corn it seemed like he kept them on a good 30 minutes or so. Another good way to fix them is to brush some melted butter on the corn, wrap them in aluminum foil and place them underneath the coals before the fire is started. Cook them that way about 30 minutes to an hour. I personally prefer them a little dark golden brown when they are cooked that way. It is yummy. Guest guest
Raw corn, if it's fresh, is the opposite of hard - it's exquisitely tender! There are few things better than eating raw corn on the cob while standing in the garden next to the stalk you picked it from. Juicy, sweet, tender - mmmmmmmmmmmm... of course, it also depends on the variety of corn; some are sweeter than others. If your corn was tough, it was probably either not very fresh, or cooked too long on the grill. While overcooking in boiling water will make corn mushy, overgrilling can toughen it. --- Start weight 365# Lap RnY, Distal - Dr. s Vanderbilt University Hospital Surgery date June 3, 2002 Current weight 205# ----- Original Message ----- > I have always boiled the hell out of corn on the cob.... when I was in the grocery the other day they had a sign that said you only have to boil it for 4min.
