I recently found this forum and think it's awesome to see all the help and

support that you guys give everyday. I just wanted to share my story in hopes

that it might provide some encouragement to anyone who might need it, so here it

goes...

It all started in early June '09, I started noticing blood in my stools. This

rapidly got worse and my stools turned into diarrhea with lots of blood. I also

had extreme bloating and pain. I went to see a GI doc and he prescribed Lialda

and scheduled a colonoscopy. The Lialda didn't work and after the colonoscopy

my GI doc diagnosed severe ulcerative colitis. He said it was one of the worst

cases he'd ever seen and even showed me pictures, it was terrible. I had

diarrhea 20 times a day with blood. It was so bad I had to have two blood

transfusions. I lost 35 lbs and was extremly weak. I tried Asacol, and

prednisone. The prednisone helped a lot but every time my doc weaned me off of

it, the problems came back right away. He tried giving me Imuran and I had a

bad allergic reaction to it. During this time I also spent hundreds of dollars

on every kind of herb and supplement I could find...nothing was working.

Now for the good news...on 12/5/09, I started the SCD diet and within 2 weeks

the bloating and gas was gone and my stools got better. After 1 month, my

stools were almost normal except for a trace of blood. After 2 months, I was

only going once a day with no blood! Now I've been on SCD for 3 months and I

feel absolutely great, I have completely normal bowel movements and no bloating

or pain of any kind! As a bonus, the acid reflux problem that I had for years

is gone! It is an amazing blessing to have found this diet and would encourage

anyone to try it and be patient, it takes some time but I know it works!
