Cunningham LAP RNY 6.5.02 HUP Dr Noel Willams start 261 current 154 here is the informationn : I can't post to the Graduate list yet (another 13 days), but I have a solution to those people having problems with the pop-up utilizing the Messenger service of Windows 2000. 1) Start Menu...Settings...Control Panel 2) Double-click on Administrative Tools 3) Double-click on Services 4) Double-click on Messenger 5) Change Startup Type to Disabled. 6) Click on the Stop button to stop the currently running service. 7) Click on the Apply button. 8) Click on OK. The Messenger service of Windows 2000 (not to be confused with AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, etc) will not be started at boot- up time and this will stop these type of pop-ups. > I don't know of any free service, but my girlfriend bought a Pop-Up Blocker from Wal-Mart and she loves it since it works great. > > Tina > Improtant Blocking the Messenger Service > > > Does anyone know of any free services to block these Messeges that Pop up > every couple of seconds when online. Guest guest
Earthlink offers Total Access 2003 which blocks spam and pop ups. It's kinda cute...your curser turns into a little fist and makes a " pop " sound when it blocks a pop-up then returns to the curser. Carol G. > AOL blocks popups, Just set it up.
